Topic: Transforming Life’s Challenges into Wisdom
Ajahn Tiradhammo is the current abbot of Luong Phor Chah Forest Monastery in Stokes Valley,Wellington. He has been teaching dhamma and leading retreats for many years in his friendly and incisive way.

Now with 35 vassa (years as a monk) , he became interested in Dhamma in his student years while travelling through Sri Lanka. Coming to Thailand and meditating at Wat Umong, he took ordination at Wat MMeung Man in Chiang Mai with Venerable Tong in 1974.
In 1975 he moved to study with Ajahn Cha at Wat Pa Pong and Wat Pa Nanachat. He went on several tudong journeys through the northeast of Thailand and the mountains of Chiang Mai, visiting many famous forest meditation masters.
Venerable Tiradhammo was invited to England in 1982 to help with developments there. He spent two years at Chithurst Monastery, and three years in charge of Harnham Vihara in Northumberland. In 1988 he helped establish Dhammapala Monastery near Bern, Switzerland and also later at its new location in the Bernese Alpine village of Kandersteg where he was the senior monk until 2005. Baan Aree Library is a thriving dhamma site with library, meeting hall, and lots of events organised in Thai. The Library itself is open daily from 9 am – 7 pm and has a few books in English. The new Dhamma Hall is airconditioned and set in the attractive grounds, with many very reasonably priced vegetarian food stalls.

The Library is right on the Skytrain line, close to Ari Station. Baan Aree car park is accessible from the rear (Soi Ari 1) where you see the sign for ‘ BANANA FAMILY PARK ‘. Bus routes 8, 28, 29, 38, 54, 63, 74, 77, 108, 157, 177, 502, 503, 509, and 510 all pass by. Get out at Ari BTS Station.
Baan Aree, Bahn Aree, Bahn Ari, Baan Ari are all the same thing – just various transliterations from the Thai. The Skytrain station is usually written ‘Ari’, while the Library compound usually writes it as ‘Baan Aree’ .

ว่า ขณะเรียนวิชาธรณีวิทยา ความไม่มั่นคงในอิฐหินดินทรายและความเสื่อมที่เกิดดับอยู่ทุกขณะในสิ่งที่มนุษย์มองเห็นเป็นสิ่งที่สร้างความมั่นคให้กับชีวิตทำให้ท่านตัดสินใจละการศึกษาในมหาวิทยาลัยออกแสวงหาความหมายที่แท้จริงของชีวิตด้วยการขี่จักรยานจากปากีสถานมายังศรีลังกา ปฏิบัติสมาธิภาวนากับ Bhikkhu Sivoli และศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยชีวิตเรื่อยไปจนถึงประเทศอินเดีย
ไม่นานหลังจากนั้น บารมีที่ท่านสะสมมาพาท่านมาถึงแผ่นดินไทย แผ่นดินพุทธ หลังจากปฏิบัติที่วัดอุโมงค์
ท่านก็ตัดสินใจมอบกายถวายชีวิตอุทิศแด่พระพุทธศาสนาโดยอุปสมบทที่วัดเมืองแมน เชียงใหม่โดยพระอาจารย์ทองปี 1974 และปฏิบัติภายใต้หลวงพ่อชาที่วัดป่าพง ในปี 1975 เวลา 9 ปีในเมืองไทยที่วัดป่าพง
และวัดป่านานาชาติเอื้อให้ท่านเข้าใจคนไทยและสื่อสารภาษาไทย ภาษาธรรมได้ด้วยภาษาเรียบง่ายเข้าถึงใจ
จากประสบการณ์ส่วนตัวในการปฏิบัติที่ท่านแบ่งปันด้วยเมตตา ไม่มีเทศนาครั้งใดจากพระอาจารย์ที่ผู้สนใจในธรรมจะไม่ได้ยินเสียงหัวเราะอย่างพระผู้ใหญ่ใจดีจากพระอาจารย์ธีระธัมโม
ระหว่าง 35 พรรษาในสมณะเพศ ท่านรับนิมนต์ไปช่วยงานก่อตั้งวัดป่าสาขาหลวงพ่อชาในประเทศอังกฤษ
5 ปี รักษาการเจ้าอาวาสวัดป่าที่ประเทศสวิสเซอร์แลนด์เป็นระยะเวลาประมาณ 18 ปี ปัจจุบันท่านได้รับนิมนต์มาเป็นเจ้าอาวาสวัดโพธิญานาราม กรุงเวลลิงตัน ประเทศนิวซีแลนด์ ตั้งแต่ปีคศ 2005 พระอาจารย์เสร็จสิ้นกิจนิมนต์จากยุโรปในเดือนพฤษภาคมและรับนิมนต์ลูกศิษย์จากมาเลเซีย สิงคโปร์ และประเทศไทยโดยลำดับ
