Aligning with the Sacred in Everyday Life with Mary Pipes

HONOURING WHAT IS WORTHY OF HONOUR—ALIGNING WITH THE SACRED IN EVERYDAY LIFE.

Monday, 8 November 2021 : 06.30 pm – 20:00 pm

Meeting ID: 557 713 7755

The Mangala Sutta reminds us that ‘honouring those worthy of honour’ is one of the highest blessings. At a time in our history when we are being confronted with the catastrophic results of failing to honour the sacred web of life, centering in the goodness within and around us has never been more vital.

Mary will guide us in a meditation so that we can collectively touch into the ever present sacred and share some reflections on this line from the sutta. The space will then be opened for us to encourage and inspire each other by sharing the different ways in which we are already honouring what is worthy of honour in our own lives. We will be invited to think not just in terms of people, but all aspects of life.

Her primary teachers are Kittisaro and Thanissara, both of whom were monastics with the Thai master, Ajahn Chah. Earlier this year Mary completed a two-year Dharmapala (Dharma Protector) training with them to support her in sharing the Dharma in these times of great challenge. Mary is a former Buddhist psychotherapist, a writer and regular contributor to sangha events, including co-facilitating Meditation for Challenging Times and Contemplation & Crises.
