Cula University Lecture

Dr Soraj announces another lecture at Culalongkorn University, not far from Siam Square.

He always invites very interesting and well qualified speakers, so this event comes highly recommended if you are free on Friday March 20th in the afternoon. It is always best to phone ahead on the day to check there have been no changes of plans. Received information is as follows:

“SELF AND SUBJECTIVITY: A MIDDLE WAY APPROACH”

In this talk Professor Dreyfus will discuss Buddhist theories of consciousness and their relation to views of the self. He will argue that among the many Buddhist views on this topic, the Yogacara tradition offers resources for Buddhist thinkers to elaborate a view of consciousness and the self that treads a middle way between reductionist and Cartesian views of consciousness and the self.

Here is a google earth photo. Walk down Henri Durant Road for 820 meters. The entrance is after you have passed under a foot bridge. Note, there are numerous entrances to various parts of the university, but you need the right one, after the footbridge. Once through the entrance look for the tall building off towards the right.  Talk is on the 7th floor.

If entering via taxi it will have to take a roundabout route within the Chulalongkorn compound.
