Dhammodaya November Retreat

The Dhammodaya meditation centre in Nakhon Pathom, just outside Bangkok, is announcing a 10 day meditation retreat with Sayadaw U Janaka. Retreat runs from Sunday 1st November to Tuesday 10th November.

Teachers

Leading the retreat will be Sayadaw U Janaka(Chinmaya Sayadaw) who is one of Myanmar’s leading lights in the meditation world. Hugely respected he has centres all over the world and thousands of disciples. He is getting older these days and it gets harder for him to travel so this is a particularly good chance to be with one of the great masters of our time.

Accompanying him will be two monks, U Sobhita and U Nyanaramsi (Malaysian/Chinese). All of them speak English fluently.

The retreat will be conducted in English, with translation into Thai throughout.

Schedule

The schedule will be posted later, but involves periods of sitting and walking most of the day long. Early rising and practise before breakfast, before lunch and through the afternoon and evening. There will be a dhamma talk once or twice a day, and all yogis will have regular interviews with the three teachers.

The retreat is recommended for those with some experience already, though beginners will also be welcome if they are keen and serious. All attendees must join for the full 10 days – no coming and going allowed, so that the retreat is well structured and consistent.

Please arrive either Saturday afternoon/evening on the 31st October, or else the Sunday morning. Retreat will finish on Tuesday 10th November after lunch. There will likely be some shared transport back to Bangkok.
