Bhikkhus Punnyo and Anando will join us at Ariaysom for our meditation session – if you have any questions for them there should be some informal time after the meditation.
Ajahn Punnyo ordained just before I did, back in 1995. It was his second time entering robes, but this time he stayed. When I was newly arrived in the temple, he was the one who showed me round and kept my feet on the ground, as well as recommending a number of really essential books to read.
Ajahn Anando was a novice in Amaravati temple in the UK (in white) at around the same time as I was, so we are both of the same generation. He stayed in the Ajahn Chah lineage however, while I forged a more lonely path in Thailand.
Both of them have spent the last 16 years in various forest temples in the UK, Australia, and Thailand – what are the lessons learned from withdrawing form society and living a secluded life? What drew them to a life of poverty and meditation, and what encouragements or advice do they have for people whose feet are planted in the tumultuous soil of daily life in Bangkok?
As always the event is free of charge, and no need for advance registration. Just come along with your friends who might also be interested.
Location:
Go to Phloen Chit BTS Station and walk to Sukhumvit Soi One. Go to the end of the Soi – it is an 8 minute walk from the station.
Thank you for the invites, I am sorry I will be missing these interesting talks but I will be out of the country until mid-July. Thanks for your efforts with the videos, much appreciated
