Online Guided Meditation with Mike Adair
Monday 12th July 2021 : 6.30 pm to 8.00 pm
Mike is a Canadian raised engineering graduate who has been living and working in Asia from a base in Thailand since 1987. Of his Buddhist roots he says: “I was introduced to samatha-vipassana meditation in Sri Lanka in 1983 by a monk who had ordained in London in the Thai Forest Tradition. My first experience was immediately very joyful and I felt that the view that it opened up to me was one that I was extremely familiar with somehow. I felt that I was able to return to something beautiful that I had known from my earliest years, but had somehow forgotten. I am so hugely grateful for this discovery and continually motivated by the realization that this 2,600-year-old educational system has been kept alive by the goodwill and wisdom of more than 100 generations of people who have supported the monastics. I find the direct experiential approach advocated by Forest Tradition teachers like Ajahn Sumedho and Ajahn Sucitto suits my temperament and curiosity to learn about this mind.”
Mike plans to use guided meditation to share his understanding of some of the major themes of his principal Thai Forest Tradition teachers Ajahn Sumedho and Ajahn Sucitto – who emphasize direct practice over study / intellectual approaches.
