Hideaway Weekend Meditation Retreat
in Pathum Thanee
Friday 25th Nov. – Sunday 27th Nov.
Overview:
Hoping for cool November weather we will head to the green fields just outside Bangkok for a calm and peaceful meditation break in Pathum Thanee.
The venue is 2 beautiful wooden houses, each with 2 large rooms and bathrooms. So we’ll all be camping down together. There is plenty of space though, and we will limit to a maximum of 10 men and 10 women.
We meet at Baan Aree, by Ari BTS station on the Friday evening, and head up to the venue which is about an hour away. We head back into Bangkok on Sunday afternoon.
Total energy exchange is 2500 baht, including travel.
Photo album from last time is here.

What you will need:
Take towels, toiletries, sleeping bag, a light blanket for meditation in the cold weather (we can hope!). You should make sure you have any medicines you will need as there is no local shop. Take a torch too, and insect repellents if you need it.
You won’t need a meditation mat or cushion as we’ll take those with us
This retreat will be fairly easy going. If you are looking for a proper, full on intensive retreat, then go for a formal retreat somewhere. This will be more relaxed, and with less guidance and instruction than usual, so it’s good if you have some prior meditation experience.
Meditation instructions will be given for those who need it, and there will be some opportunity for beginners to ask questions during the free time.

The Venue and food:
There are 2 buildings, each with two large rooms and bathrooms. There are (semi) air con spaces, and non-air-con spaces in each room. We’ll be on mattresses on the floor – monastic style – though there are a couple of beds to offer to the older folks. There is plenty of space, but we’ll all have to cooperate in accommodating each other and the venue as it is not a dedicated meditation retreat center. If you wish to take a tent to stay in you are welcome to.
The garden property is situated in green fields, with lots of great walking meditation spots. It does get rather chilly at night, so be prepared for that. It’s a nice way to spend a clean, contemplative weekend with some meditation and other yogis.
Food will be fairly simple vegetarian. We can’t cater for special diets – wheat free, gluten free, no this that or the other – it can’t be done. We’re leaving it to the Thai staff to feed us vegetarian foods they know how to prepare. Following Thai monastic style, the main meal will be at Midday.

Meeting point:
Baan Aree Library is right on the Skytrain line. Go to Ari BTS station and walk back towards the victory monument about 20 meters and you should see the passage way to Baan Aree Library on the right hand side.
There is a vegetarian food court there to buy your evening meal.
Baan Aree car park is accessible from the rear (Soi Ari 1) where you see the sign for ‘ BANANA FAMILY PARK ‘.

Booking
Please book your place in advance by paying the retreat cost. Since we are limited to just 20 participants please be absolutely sure that you will be attending . Last minute cancellations mean others will have missed the chance to join us. We can’t really return the cost in case of cancellations as we still have to pay for the transport etc… so please understand, and only book if you are absolutely certain to be joining.
You need to book in below, and pay a 1000 baht deposit to secure your spot. The deposit is non-returnable (unless we find a replacement for your spot). You can deposit at any of our events – we don’t do bank transfers, sorry.
It is possible to drive yourself, but there is no discount as we will have to pay for 2 mini-vans regardless.
