The Transformation of Suffering by Loving Kindness Using the Practice of Tonglen with Andy Lowe

Monday, 10 January, 2022 : 06.30 pm – 20.00 pm

Meeting ID: 687 170 3208

Tonglen is Tibetan for ‘giving and taking’, and refers to a meditation practice found in Tibetan Buddhism. Tong means “giving or sending”, and len means “receiving or taking”.

Tonglen is also known as exchanging self with other. It is a skillful practice which allows us to cut through our habitual tendencies of closing down both our hearts and minds to pain and suffering. Instead of trying to block out pain and suffering, they are embraced and transformed into loving kindness.

The session will be guided by Andy Lowe, who joined the Tibetan Buddhist Karma Kagyu group 38 years ago. This is one of the four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism and the most influential lineage outside Tibet.
