Buddhist Psychos: Meet Sat. June 4th

Continuing the fine tradition started by psychologist and meditator Dr Holly, all Buddhist Psychos are invited to meet at Ariyasom Villa, either in the library or by the pool depending on weather. There’s coffee, deserts and other things on the menu…

Saturday June 4th

1pm  – for about 2 hours or so (come/leave as you like)

The theme of the chat is supposed to be Buddhism and psychology – but there are no hard rules and we can venture off topic as easily as we get back to it.

This time out we will start with talking on the Buddhist idea of ‘non-self’. To this end we’ll start the discussion based on the very small book by Buddhadasa Bhikkhu on the topic:

Anatta – A Comparative Study of Self and Non Self in Buddhism, Hinduism and Western Philosophy

There are 5 copies of this little book available (though you can buy it in various shops too) for free at the lunch on 27th May at ANNAPURNA. If you could not get a copy it is not vital. Some background knowledge of psychology or Buddhism is all you need.

Directions

Could not be easier – go down Sukhumvit Soi One, right to the end, and Ariyasom is on the left. Skytrain BTS Station is Ploen Chit

  1. Rather sadly, I will be unable to attend this first meeting to happen after Dr. Holly’s passing On a bright note, my reasons are one of the joy of gifting myself a 3+ month working meditation retreat at Wat Kow Tahm under guidance of Steven and Rosemary Weissman. Holly would have agreed that it’s a good reason to miss.

It’s my hope that other members, both constant and occasional, will keep the group going. And I look forward to having another chance to share lively discussion with all.

May you each find your Peace of Mind.

    Warmly,
    David Greason

    1. cool. did I mention that we’re hoping Lekshe Karma will join us? She leaves for Minburi that day, but we might convince her to linger for the meeting.
