Buddhist Psycho’s meet for special event
with visiting psycho Jake Davis
Free Will Free Won’t and Who’s in Control

Saturday June 25th, Ekkamai 2-4pm

Overview:

Psychologists, Buddhists and meditators (and anyone else interested) are invited to meetup Saturday June 25th from 2-4 pm. This time we are led by a visiting honorary Buddhist Psycho, meditation teacher, Buddhist scholar and cognitive sciences academic Jake Davis. He is currently assisting our regular mindfulness teacher Steven Smith on a meditation retreat in Southern Thailand. He will be in Bangkok en route home, just for a few hours, but kindly accepted to come share his knowledge with us.

‘Buddhist Psychos’ was an informal discussion meetup started by the late Dr Holly Dugan, a clinical psychologist. This is a totally informal group, and you don’t have to be experts!

  • Event is free of charge and there is no need to book.
  • Hosted at the ‘APARTMENTS’ Meditation Studio near Ekkamai BTS (directions below)

About the Topic

Western and Eastern concepts do not always translate well. In Buddhism there is the idea of ‘will’ or ‘intention’, which is called ‘cetana’. There are particular connotations to the Buddhist concept of intention though, which make the topic broader than it’s usual Western interpretation.
