The Bangkok Shambhala group is announcing an interesting event for Monday May 25 at Monteray Place :

Understanding and Implementing the Ideal of the Bodhisattva in Our Day to Day Lives

with Lopon Phuntso Gyaltshen. Monday May 25th, 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Free and Open to Everyone.

Date:
25/05/2009 – 7 pm – 9 pm

We’re very pleased to announce that Lopon Phuntsho will join us again here in Bangkok, and has agreed to teach on Monday, May 25th.  Following the meditation, Lopon will teach about how we can implement the ideal of the Bodhisattva into our everyday lives.

Lopon Phutsho Gyaltshen, a Bhutanese citizen, grew up in Bhutan.  After high school he enrolled at Ngagyur Nyingma Institute, a branch of Namdroling (Tibetan Buddhist) monastery for higher Buddhist studies, in south India, and graduated from its nine-year course in 2002 (with a Lopon degree; rendered equivalent to Master’s).  After he received his degree, he taught at the same institute for 3 years, and has been working on tri-lingual translations (English, Tibetan, and Bhutanese) since then.  He also received Dzogchen teachings and the 500,000 accumulations practices from H.H. Penor Rinpoche, whom he also served as an interpreter.  After leaving the institute, he taught for several years in Bhutan before coming to Thailand, where he teaches monks at the Mahapanya Vidayalai Institute (http://mahapanya.ac.th) in Hat Yai (affiliated to Mahachulalongkorn University).
