A New Year in Bangkok
Kalyanamitta – Your Role in Other’s Paths
Short Dhamma Reflection and Meditation
at Ariyasom, Sukhumvit Soi 1
Thursday 9th January
Few people can establish a really regular and consistent practise alone – many read the books or even the Suttas, but to translate that into a systematic daily meditation is not easy. The distractions are many!
You have to come together with other people and practise in order to translate the aspiration for enlightenment into a real development of spiritual qualities. Monks are trained to come together every 2 weeks for a general meeting (called the ‘Wan Phra’ in Thailand) for just this reason. The principle is Kalyanamitta – Spiritual Friendship.
- 6:30 pm – Meet, coffee and refreshements
- 7:00 – Dhamma refelction on Kalyanamitta, and your role in other people’s paths in the New Year
- 7:30 – Meditation (with very short instructions for beginners)
- 8:15 – Finish
This event is kindly hosted at Ariyasom Villa Boutique Hotel, Bangkok. Event is free of charge, but donations are welcome.
Speaker: Pandit Bhikkhu
