(Added: A look at the Law of Attraction blog…)

Secret Saturdays are unusual  …

but in this case we will be showing the movie ‘The Secret’ on Saturday 14thMarch at the Tai Pan Hotel.

We’ll stick to our usual format:

Meet anywhere between 11:30 to 12:30 for the buffet lunch at the Tai Pan Hotel, Sukhumvit 23 (maps below). Around 1pm we will move up to the meeting room on level 5 and settle down to watch and chat about the movie ‘The Secret’. You can join just for the lunch, just for the movie, or both – it is an easy going day.

For our movies etc… anyone can propose and lead a movie. It needs to be something of general interest and connected to Buddhism however loosely. It is nice for us as a group to keep things varied.

This movie and discussion will be lead by Life Coach and Soul Sanook leader Debbie Reeds who many of you have met already. In fact, she has led courses stemming from The Secret many times, but usually over a period of six weeks. We’ll compress it all into one afternoon. It’s our last chance to do this event with Debbie as she will be leaving Thailand for the UK, after over 5 years spent here. Previously she followed a career in human resource management before training with CoachU and becoming an Associate Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation

The Secret Movie and Discussion

This popular movie
http://thesecret.tv/ introduced concepts like visualisation, managing energy and the law of attraction to mainstream viewers and inspired many to experiment with different ways of living and being.  Some praise the movie for its accessibility and clear explanations, others criticise its over simplification and focus on material acquisition.

Life and Executive Coach, Debbie Reeds of Soul Sanook Coaching works with clients to implement the Law of Attraction in their lives and she will lead us in a discussion of the main points in the movie and how they fit with our beliefs and experiences.

The movie is about 90 mins long.  We will watch the first section, have a short discussion and then view the remainder.

The topic of the movie is the so called “Law of Attraction” – the way your mental state can attract certain circumstances to you. Does it explain why some people seem unlucky or accident prone ? Can your mental attitude really heal your body faster, or cause illness ? Is this the same or different from Karma? Is it just hindsight called by the name of prediction?

All good questions.

The Details:

Buffet is 180 baht per person – paid to the Hotel. Every time we go it is an excellent lunch. (Unfortunately the Tai Pan special offer of one person in five going free ended in February. But they still gave us 10% off, from the usual 206 baht each.)

Room hire upstairs is 2500 baht for the afternoon, including projector, which is an excellent deal for a Sukhumvit location. We’ll all chip in to cover this cost.

Directions:

Goto Asoke BTS or Underground line. Walk East and go down Sukhumvit 23 for 336 meters (thanks Google Earth). Turn left into the Tai Pan Hotel. Restaurant is on the ground floor as you enter the building. Make sure to come and announce yourself – or they might not give you our discounted price for lunch!
