Sunday 14th Feb

10:30 – 13:00

Coordinator: Jamie Reinhardt

Price: € free

SHAMBHALA DAY marks the beginning of the New Year, and represents one of the most important traditions of Shambhala Buddhism. Based on the traditional Tibetan New Year’s celebration of Losar, the day is calculated astrologically according to the Tibetan lunar calendar, and changes every year to coincide with the annual lunar cycles.

Shambhala Day is a time for us to express the wealth and richness of our spiritual and cultural heritage through feasting, conviviality, elegance and pomp. We’ll start off in the morning (at Narathiwas soi 15, Yaek 8, house #29; see directions on the home page) with a lhasang (purification) ceremony. Then, we’ll practice the Elixir of Life Sadhana, which encourages appreciation of life through contemplation of the Four Reminders, and a blessing for an auspicious beginning to the new year.

Following the practice, everyone is invited to an international buffet lunch at the Heritage Hotel (www.theheritagebangkok.com) near the BTS Chong Nonsi (at 12:00 noon). The price for the brunch is 189 Baht per person. Please RSVP by registering (below) so we know how many people to expect (and to make the reservation for). Hope to see you there!
