Hideaway Weekend Meditation Retreat
Friday17th – Sunday 19th December
Making best use of the cool weather we will be back at the beautiful Hideaway retreat place in Pathum Thanee for an easy going weekend of meditation, and BBQ.
Cost of the weekend, for food, transport and accommodation is 1500 baht (thanks to K. Krisda for giving us the venue). It’s a very lovely place, nice atmosphere, tranquil and with few distractions. Photo album from last time is here.
SCHEDULE
We’ll meet at Baan Aree for Vegetarian lunch at 10 am. After that we will head off to a mystery location, for a highly unusual sight seeing tour of a special place (it is great fun), and then on to the venue by 4pm ish.
For the remainder of Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning we’ll alternate between group sitting, walking meditation in the gardens, and silent free time. And eating of course 🙂 We’ll be on monastic schedule, so meals are breakfast and main meal at 11 am. There will be some light food in the evening also for those who don’t like to do without.
We’ll be sharing rooms – 2 large rooms for 8 or 10 women, and 2 large rooms for 8 – 10 men, including monks. There is lots of space. The Inner part of the rooms is air con, and the ante-rooms are non-aircon. At this time of the year it is pretty cold at night – so there is lots and lots of space for everyone to spread out between the room and ante-rooms infront. There are 3 large bathrooms per building.
TAKE
Take towels, toiletries, sleeping bag, a light blanket for meditation in the cold weather (we can hope!).
Vegetarian food will be served throughout, with a Veg BBQ on the final day. We’ll alternate talking and silent times.
This retreat will be fairly easy going. If you are looking for a proper, full on intensive retreat, then go for the YBAT retreat in January. This will be more relaxed, and with less guidance and instruction than the January retreat, so better if you have some meditation experience beforehand.
Here is the report from our last Hideaway retreat
