Sunday 18th October

We stopped taking booking for seats in the mini-vans several days ago. You are still welcome to arrange your own transport – use the contact page on this website if you need directions.

Overview:

ธรรมะ โดย พระอาจารย์ ชยสาโร

We will be taking some minivans for a day trip up to Pak Chong to see Ajahn Jayasaro on Sunday 18th October 2015 for a dhamma talk in English:

Ajahn Jayasaro is probably Thailand’s most famous Western Monk, and has a huge following. However, he does not do public talks in English very often, so this is one of the few opportunities to go meet him.

The site in Pak Chong is very pleasant and cooler than Bangkok. It is a nice day out for us, to meet with other yogis, see some trees and meet A. Jayasaro too. There is plenty of room. Last time there were around 80 of us!

Ajahn Jayasaro does a public talk in Pak Chong (almost) every 1st and 3rd Sunday morning of the month in Thai.
We will be there in the afternoon for a special talk in English only.

  • Meet at Baan Aree before 8:00am
  • Vans leave Baan Aree one by one as each one fills up
  • Lunch in Pak Chong at a restaurant close to the talk venue
  • Meditation 1-1:30
  • Dhamma Talk Q&A 1:30-2:45
  • Leave for Bangkok 3 pm

Mini-van space is 500 baht per person. Please pay in advance to reserve your spot, at any of our public gatherings. If you can’t afford the van fee, let us know and we’ll try to arrange a free spot for you.

If you would like to arrange your own transport you are welcome to do so – obviously, there will be no van fee to pay in that case. You can go by yourself, or you can meet the mini-vans and follow along. If you have space and might be able to take an extra passenger, please let us know.

It is about a 2 hr drive. Send an email via the CONTACT page for the map and directions (it is quite easy to find). The return trip takes a bit longer.

Ajahn Jayasaro

.. should not need any introduction. He was born on the Isle of Wight in 1958. He joined Ajahn Sumedho’s community for the Rains Retreat as an anagarika in 1978. In November of that year he left for Wat Pa Pong in Northeast Thailand where he ordained as a novice in the following year, and as a bhikkhu in 1980 with Venerable Ajahn Cha as his preceptor. From 1997 until 2002 Ajahn Jayasaro was the Abbot of Wat Pa Nanachat.a-jayasaro1

He is hugely popular and sought after speaker, whose dhamma is always refreshing and to the point. It is well worth the trip out to this great location on the cool Kao Yai mountainside, to join this event.

Photos from last year’s trip are here and most recent trip here

and trips previous to that:  photos and 2014

Please note you are asked not to go to the venue at Pak Chong other than for scheduled events. It is a private family compound, not a public temple, and you will not be permitted entry to the property.

Meeting point location:

Baan Aree Library is a thriving dhamma site with library, meeting hall, and lots of excellent events organised in Thai. The Library itself is open daily from 9 am – 7 pm and has a few books in English, including much of the Tripitaka (Scriptures).

Baan Aree has occasional Dhamma meetings in Thai which are listed at their Thai website: http://baanaree.net/ .

The Library is directly on the Skytrain line. Go to Ari BTS station and walk back towards the victory monument about 20 meters and you should see the passage way to Baan Aree Library on the right hand side.

Baan Aree car park is accessible from the rear (Soi Ari 1) where you see the sign for ‘ BANANA FAMILY PARK ‘. Bus routes 8, 28, 29, 38, 54, 63, 74, 77, 108, 157, 177, 502, 503, 509, and 510 all pass by. Get out at Ari BTS Station.

Booking

Kindly book in using the form below. Double check your information as so many people make typos and then wonder why there was no response. After completing the form below you will be returned to this webpage – your details will not be published. Please give us a dew days to respond. If you are joining the group van, your place is only cemented after paying the van fee – the reason is: in the past people booked, but did not show up, leaving me to pay for their van seat personally. The van fee is fully refundable up to 5 days before we leave.

If you plan to drive yourself, I will send you directions.

Van fee can be deposited at any of our public events as listed on this website.
We don’t take bank transfers as that would involve staff, offices, bank accounts etc… all of which we don’t have. So please make the effort to attend one of our events and deposit the van fee. Alternatively, you are welcome to arrange your own transport for the trip.

No more bookings are accepted – but you are welcome to arrange your own transport and attend that way.
