The Significance of Daily Formal Meditation

The Little Bangkok Sangha is inviting you to a Zoom meeting on Monday 11 July, 2022 from 7:00 – 08.30 PM Bangkok time. Please note that this is half an hour later than our normal starting time.
We are honoured to host Tan Ajahn Achalo who will lead us in a guided meditation, followed by a Dhamma talk on the significance of daily formal meditation. Afterwards there will be an opportunity to ask him some questions.
Ajahn Achalo was born in Brisbane Australia in 1972 and is currently the abbot of Samnaksong Anandagiri, a forest monastery in Phetchabun he founded in 2011. He developed a keen interest in meditation at the age of twenty and a year later left for Thailand to study Buddhism more intently. After a two year period practising in various centres and monasteries, Ajahn Achalo ordained as a Theravada Bhikkhu (monk) in 1996 under Ajahn Liem at Wat Nong Pah Pong, the monastery founded by Venerable Ajahn Chah. Although most of his training has taken place in Thailand, Ajahn Achalo has also lived in several international Forest Monasteries in the Ajahn Chah lineage.

On his website https://www.peacebeyondsuffering.org/ you will find several meditation practices presented in the form of step by step ‘Guided Meditations.’ There are also readings from Buddhist suttas and excerpts from the Dhamma Talks of contemporary meditation masters.
