‘WATER AS CONSCIOUSNESS’ : This month is Sonkran water festival. No, you can’t water fight with me! But join in this evening for reflections (!!) on how and why water is used in Enlightenment traditions to represent consciousness itself.
Jesus was the ‘fisher of souls’;
in the Journey to the West – Monkey found his home at the source of water behind a water curtain;
the Fisher King stories (mostly Arthurian legends),
fairy tales,
the Tao,
and most especially suttas from original Buddhism all use water as a symbol for consciousness itself. There is good reason for this; and practical ways it will inform your meditation practice!

Everyone is welcome, from beginners to experienced meditators. We meet to support and encourage each other in our practice.
Baan Aree is a Thai Buddhist Center, please dress modestly.

As is usual with Buddhist teachings, there is no charge for this event. However, the Little Bangkok Sangha follows the Buddhist custom of Dana (generosity). The teachings and the venue are offered as an act of generosity, and those receiving them can, if they wish, support with a small donation. These go towards the teacher’s and venue’s costs. Boxes for Dana will be provided.
